2021 Shipping Costs
Thomas FX does not control shipping costs.
Shipping costs are impacted by the size, weight, destination, mode of transport, transit time chosen by our customers, and by a host of other factors that include brokerage, customs clearances, insurance coverage, fuel surcharges, port fees, and regional import tax tariffs.
The basic cost for your shipment is often perceived as the rate set by the courier company, mail service, or cargo carrier chosen by customers. For example, if you require next day service, your shipping charges are going to be higher than ground shipping. Some orders must be flown to meet tight production schedules. Air delivery will cost you more than ocean freight, which of course will take longer and comes with its own set of unique challenges, such as waiting for shipping containers or port access for the vessel carrying your order.
Thomas FX does charge a very small fee to cover the material and labour costs associated with preparing your order for shipping. These internal costs normally include packaging and shipping materials such as approved heat-treated pallets, labour to prepare your order for a safe transit and delivery, preparation of bills of lading, coordination with customs brokers and logistics partners, correctly printing and labelling your shipments, arranging goods in transit insurance coverage when requested, and management interactions with various Government regulatory agencies to ensure your orders move as quickly as possible between destinations and across international borders to be delivered to you in a safe, secure and timely manner.
While we work tirelessly on your behalf to ensure a speedy delivery within your approved budget, sometimes matters beyond our control delay delivery of your orders; winter blizzard road closures, floods, forest fires, hurricanes that prevent planes from landing at their designated destinations, labour strikes that prevent ships from being unloaded or cargo from moving out of the port, shortages of production components that slow delivery from our manufacturing partners around the world, and unexpected discretionary cargo inspections that export or import authorities deem appropriate, for any reason, in the course of keeping their international borders secure.
Over the course of the past 53 years, with film and television customers in more than 80 countries, and more than 2,000 SKUs, we have become very efficient at moving shipments around the world as quickly and inexpensively as possible to meet tight production schedules, so you can trust us to help you through any contingency. While most shipments arrive on time and on budget, rest assured that if your order does experience any unforeseen delay, we will be here to help you.
If you think your shipping cost is too high, please contact us (text hyperlink opens email to Betty). Perhaps we can provide options to save you money that may not be apparent when you receive your initial shipping quote.
