The last few months have been extremely eventful for Thomas FX. We have added innovative new products to our assortment, including COVID-19 safety products. We have received local awards, expanded our global reach, and are shipping quality production supplies every day, as Film and TV productions resume.

Oct 29, 2020  - In challenging times, North Vancouver businesses have proven to be resilient, innovative, and overwhelmingly inspirational.

To shine a light on some of the many businesses that have kept thriving and gone the extra mile to help others during the COVID-19 pandemic, the North Vancouver Chamber initiated a new awards series.

The North Shore News and national news site, The Star, have drawn national attention to the awards and the businesses who received them.

Some businesses have added new product lines and expanded their customer base. Thomas FX Group Inc., a North Vancouver-based supplier of specialty products to the movie industry, best known for biodegradable snow and ash products (used in The Revenant, Avengers: Infinity War, Star Trek: Into the Darkness, etc.) became the exclusive distributor of a line of high-intensity UV lights and sanitizing chemicals, and now has added doctors, dentists, and gyms as customers.

Before the pandemic, BC was home to 40 percent of Canada’s film and television production, followed secondly by Ontario. Although Canada’s Covid-19 cases are on the rise, the significantly lower numbers than their American neighbours offer a more promising outlook for future productions. 

Beginning in August, film production started to see a prominent return across BC, with productions resuming filming. Pre-pandemic, Thomas FX was best known for being an industry leader in Hollywood and global film special effects production supplies. Thomas FX has made a shift to start selling COVID-19 safety measures on top of their usual product supply.

VANCOUVER SUN - AUG 15, 2020   

The blue-collar reality TV genre takes real Canadian working-class tales to views all over the world.  Filming shows such as Mud Mountain, Heavy Rescue: 401, Save My Reno, Queen of the Oil Patch, and Highway Thru Hell is challenging, due to the dangerous occupations and conditions they document.  COVID-19 adds another layer of danger and makes filming reality TV a lot more real.
