The only motion bases of their kind in Canada, Thomas FX's unique motion base technology has been proven on features such as 'X-Men 2', 'I Robot', 'Chronicles of Riddick', 'Are We There Yet?' and 'Snow Queen'. These amazing units generate full fluid motions and produce results that are vastly superior to traditional gimbles. Our self contained systems come with independent hydraulic power sources that operate from standard 208-volt A/C inputs.

Thomas FX motion base units are portable and freestanding. The size of the set pieces and dynamics of your shots will determine which motion base will produce the best results. Our technicians and engineers are available to advise on all aspects of equipment selection, installation, and operation, for short or long term rentals.

The Thomas FX 6/12 is rated for a 4,500-pound payload; ideal for cars or small boats. The 6/24 model is rated for up to 14,500 pounds and can accommodate a helicopter, aircraft cockpit, city bus, or larger set such as an earthquake building.

Installation is fast and easy and requires minimal time and effort for set up, operation, and strike. To ensure the best results, an experienced and dedicated operator accompanies each of our motion bases.

A 'one-to-one' model motion base controller gives complete and accurate control of the main base and set piece. Fully adjustable to achieve optimal sensitivity and control, the main base follows the movement of the model base exactly. The resulting movements of the base and set are recorded in real time using state of the art proprietary software and PLC logic modules. Once an optimal action sequence has been determined by the Director, the sequence can be duplicated exactly at will making subsequent takes of different actors in the shot, or shots from different camera angles, completely accurate. Thomas FX motion base technology enables the realisation of more complicated action sequences and is essential when compiling composite shots that are married with visual effects and motion control equipment.
